YOU(th), Me and EU
“You(th), Me and EU” is an Erasmus+ youth participation project designed to encourage young people to engage more actively in European civic life. The project creates opportunities for young people to explore European values, participation, citizenship, and their role in shaping the future of their communities and Europe.
“You(th), Me and EU” is an Erasmus+ Youth Participation Activities project coordinated by the International Alliance for Integration and Sustainability (IAIS). The project aims to encourage young people to become more actively involved in civic life and to strengthen their understanding of their role as citizens within their communities and the European Union.
The project focuses on creating opportunities for young people to explore European values, democratic participation, citizenship, and the importance of having their voices heard in decisions that affect their lives and communities. It encourages young people to reflect on the relationship between their personal experiences, their local communities, and the wider European context.
Through youth-centred and participatory approaches, the project promotes dialogue, exchange of ideas, and active involvement. Young participants are encouraged to express their views, share their experiences, discuss issues that matter to them, and explore constructive ways of contributing to their communities.
A key principle of the project is that young people should not only be consulted but also have meaningful opportunities to participate in shaping initiatives and discussions that concern their future. By encouraging active engagement and dialogue, the project supports young people in developing confidence, awareness, and a stronger sense of civic responsibility.
The project also contributes to intercultural understanding by creating opportunities for participants to exchange perspectives and recognise the diversity of experiences within European communities. This helps young people develop greater openness towards different viewpoints while identifying shared values and common aspirations.
Ultimately, “You(th), Me and EU” seeks to empower young people to become informed, active, and engaged citizens. By connecting young people's perspectives with wider European values and opportunities for participation, the project contributes to building more inclusive, democratic, and youth-responsive communities.
