EQUALITY, DIVERSITY & INCLUSION
POLICY

fdsfsdf.png

The International Alliance for Integration & Sustainability (IAIS) is committed to creating an organisation where people are treated with dignity, fairness and respect. Equality, diversity and inclusion are central to our work with young people, adults, migrants, cultural minorities, displaced persons, communities and partner organisations.

We value the different experiences, identities, cultures and perspectives that people bring. We aim to remove barriers to participation and to ensure that our governance, projects, recruitment, training and community activities are welcoming, accessible and inclusive.

Our EDI Commitments

Equal treatment and dignity

IAIS does not tolerate discrimination, harassment, bullying, victimisation or hate speech. We treat people fairly and respectfully regardless of race, nationality, ethnicity, culture, language, religion or belief, sex, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, family status, socioeconomic background, migration or displacement status, or any other protected or personal characteristic.

Inclusion of migrants and cultural minorities

Integration and intercultural inclusion are core to IAIS. We support migrants, cultural minorities and communities facing exclusion to participate meaningfully in society, access opportunities, have their voices heard and contribute to the design of activities that affect them.

Inclusive participation

We seek to make our programmes accessible to people with fewer opportunities. Where reasonably possible, we will address barriers related to language, disability, finance, geography, culture or social circumstances and provide appropriate support or reasonable adjustments.

Fair recruitment and engagement

Appointments of staff, volunteers, trainers, consultants and project participants will be based on relevant skills, experience, suitability and organisational needs. Recruitment and selection processes should be transparent, fair and free from discrimination.

Inclusive projects and learning

EDI principles will be considered when designing and delivering projects, training courses, mobility activities and community programmes. Trainers and facilitators are expected to use respectful language, encourage participation from different voices and challenge discriminatory behaviour appropriately.

Respectful communication and representation

IAIS communications should represent people and communities with dignity. We avoid stereotypes, tokenism and language that portrays migrants or minority communities only through vulnerability. We seek to promote agency, contribution and positive participation.

Partnerships

IAIS expects partner organisations and service providers to respect the principles of equality, dignity, inclusion and non-discrimination when working with our participants, staff and communities.

Raising concerns

Anyone who experiences or witnesses conduct that may breach this policy may raise the concern with the Project Coordinator, Executive Director, Board Secretary or Chairperson. Concerns will be handled respectfully, proportionately and as confidentially as possible. Retaliation against a person raising a genuine concern in good faith will not be tolerated.

Responsibilities

The Board of Administrators has overall responsibility for this policy. The Executive Director is responsible for supporting its implementation in day-to-day operations and projects. All staff, volunteers, consultants, trainers, partners and participants are expected to uphold these principles while engaged in IAIS activities.
