Day 1 – Brussels: You(th), Me & EU
The first day of “You(th), Me & EU” officially began in Brussels with participants setting their goals and expectations for the five-day program.
The group explored Europe’s history and identity through visits to the Atomium, where they learned about the vision behind the 1958 World Expo, and Mini-Europe, which offered a unique overview of European landmarks and cultures.
The day concluded with a visit to the “What Does Europe Do for Me?” exhibition, followed by a group reflection on European identity and the experiences that helped participants feel more connected to Europe.
The first day combined learning, cultural exploration, reflection, and youth engagement, setting the stage for the activities ahead.
Day 2 – Brussels: Experiencing European Democracy
The second day of “You(th), Me & EU” brought participants to the European Parliament, giving them an opportunity to experience the heart of European democracy firsthand.
The day began with a briefing on parliamentary procedures and protocol, preparing participants for a series of high-level meetings. They then met with representatives of the Greens/EFA Group to discuss their vision for a greener, more inclusive Europe.
Participants also gained behind-the-scenes insight into the work of European Parliament interpreters, learning how multilingual communication is managed across the Parliament’s 24 official languages.
The highlight of the day was meeting President Roberta Metsola, where participants had the opportunity to ask questions about the future of young people and Europe.
The experience demonstrated the importance of youth participation in democracy, encouraging young people to engage, ask questions, share their perspectives, and actively contribute to shaping Europe’s future.
Day 3 in Brussels: After the high-stakes energy of the European Parliament, today was all about the "human side" of the Union.
We started with a slow morning, giving our You(th), Me & EU team some time to breathe and explore the beautiful streets of Brussels at their own pace. ☕️🇧🇪
Regrouped and refreshed, we headed to Experience Europe. This wasn't just another museum, it was an interactive journey! We spent the afternoon diving into stories from the people who actually make the EU run, watching videos of their personal experiences and seeing how their work connects back to all of us. 🖥️🤝
We ended the day with a walk around the iconic Berlaymont building. Seeing the headquarters of the European Commission up close really puts the scale of everything we’ve learned into perspective. 🏢🙌
A perfect mix of "chill" and "inspired." Ready for what’s next!
Day 4 – Brussels: Youth, History & the Future of Europe
Day 4 of “You(th), Me & EU” focused on youth participation, social challenges, and Europe’s history.
Participants began with a strategy session before visiting the European Youth Card Association (EYCA), where they learned about its work in empowering young people and giving them opportunities to make their voices heard. Through workshops, they also discussed social issues in Malta and developed possible solutions.
The day continued with a visit to the House of European History, where participants explored Europe’s past through interactive exhibits and different perspectives on the events that shaped the European Union.
Overall, the day connected Europe’s history with its future, highlighting the important role young people can play in creating positive change.
Day 5 – Brussels: Empowering Youth for the Next Chapter✨
The final day of “You(th), Me & EU” focused on equipping participants with knowledge and tools for the next stage of the project.
Participants visited the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) to learn about the role of civil society and how young people can participate in decision-making processes. They then met with representatives of the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) and learned more about Erasmus+ Youth and the European Solidarity Corps.
The day concluded with a group dinner and a final reflection, celebrating the knowledge, experiences, and friendships gained throughout the five-day mobility.
Overall, the Brussels experience strengthened participants’ understanding of European institutions, youth participation, and EU opportunities, preparing them to share their learning and continue the project in their home communities.
